There are many facilities available at WFC for members to enjoy but our most important assets are those that allow the club operate on a daily basis, whatever the time of year.  The clubhouse and classroom are accessible 24/7 and a purpose built hangar provides cover for our primary training aircraft in the winter months (thus allowing lessons and flying during the morning periods).  In 2007, WFC sought the help of the Nuffield Trust in order to purchase a new double-skinned fuel bowser. Boasting a 10,000 litre capacity, large quantities of AVGAS can now be ordered  (at a lower unit cost)

which in turn helps to keeps our flying costs down.  With internet access and wi-fi throughout the clubhouse, an on-line aircraft booking facility and a chip and pin payment terminal, booking and paying for flying is quick and simple.

A  Flight Simulator, built in 2009, allows students to fly routes that they may have planned ahead of a navigation flight lesson; with real- time weather feeding into the simulator, and ground  features as

you would see them for real from above, the simulator is a good way to check your wind calculations and timings.  Communication procedure can also be practiced and the facility is available free of charge throughout the week.

For those who have already obtained their licence, WFC has recently acquired a licence to run the full Sky Demon flight planning software package and a Sky Demon MD GPS system.  This is displayed on a large TV style screen within the flight planning room and is by far the best GA flight planning software on the market today. Providing quick and easy route planning, the software automatically draws in a NOTAM and weather check, W&B calculations as well as a profile view showing the airspace around your intended route. A complete PLOG can be printed and the route downloaded into the GPS system for you to take flying with you. Check out the Sky Demon website link on the left of this page - a trial version of the software can be downloaded.

For students, the club holds full set of the highly accredited Oxford Aviation Flying Training DVD’s.

The DVD’s are available to loan and can be used to consolidate what you have been taught in the classroom and in the air.  If you don’t own your own headset, we have a small stock available for general use as well as 4 high-quality David Clarke sets reserved for students.  A club shop offers discounted training items such as Flight Reference Cards, manuals and flying charts.

For those members planning expeditions or similar events, the club holds a number of life jackets, personal locator beacons, parachutes, helmets, a liferaft, and GPS units that can be loaned as and when required.

Why not pop over to the club and see what is on offer - we are sure you will be impressed with our set-up!
